Grand Canyon Wildfire Destroys Historic Lodge
The Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim was always a highlight for visitors looking for a quieter, more scenic experience, and for our family, it held a special place in our many Arizona adventures. We have hiked parts of the Arizona Trail and completed a rim-to-rim trek. The lodge, with its big stone patio, cozy cabins, and unbeatable views, made it easy to slow down and take it all in.
The Grand Canyon Lodge was made special as a place of comfort after hard miles, it was a gathering point for hikers, families, and travelers from all over the world. We would trade stories, rest our legs, and gear up for whatever came next. The lodge gave those moments a home.
When we heard the news about the Dragon Bravo Fire and the loss of the lodge, it was heartbreaking. It is hard to imagine that beautiful, familiar place no longer standing. Still, we are incredibly thankful we got to experience it while it was there. From grabbing snacks at the café to spotting deer in the early mornings and, of course, taking a photo with Brighty the Burro, the memories we made there are ones we will always carry with us.
Even though the building is gone, the North Rim still holds its quiet magic, and we know it will continue to inspire future generations of hikers and nature lovers. If and when the lodge is rebuilt, we will be among the first to return with boots on, packs ready, and hearts open to making new memories. Until then, we will keep hiking, keep exploring, and always be grateful for the time we spent in that special corner of the canyon.
