There have been several stories in the local and national news recently regarding water issues faced by Rio Verde Foothills residents. Many of my clients, friends and colleagues have asked me about this issue, and I feel it is important for all of us to have the most complete information available to the public. - A town hall meeting of Rio Verde Foothills Residents took place on January 29, 2023. Scottsdale staff was not in attendance due to a pending lawsuit by Rio Verde Foothills against the City of Scottsdale.
- The City of Scottsdale has stated, "Scottsdale is willing to discuss potential short- and long-term solutions with Maricopa County, the only local governing body for Rio Verde, provided Scottsdale remains in compliance with the city's state-mandated Drought Management Plan and City of Scottsdale residents are not negatively impacted."
- On Jan. 22, 2023, Maricopa County Superior Court ruled in the City of Scottsdale's favor, denying Rio Verde Foothill's requested temporary relief against the city.
- On Jan. 16, 2023, the City of Scottsdale published "Scottsdale statement and facts - Rio Verde Foothills water" on their website. Read statement here.
