101 ACTS OF NEIGHBORING
Sometimes, a simple act of kindness can make a big impact in your neighborhood. In today’s fast-paced world, being a good neighbor stands out—and it can be the first step toward stronger community connections. You don’t have to plan a big event to get started. Begin small by reaching out to the eight neighbors closest to you with a kind gesture. As relationships grow, you can consider hosting something like a casual food gathering—just remember, the goal is connection, not entertainment.
This list of neighboring ideas was originally created in 2021 through a collaboration between the University of Missouri Extension and the Springfield-Greene County Library District, and has since been refined through partnerships with KY3 and The Hopeful Neighborhood Project. While we may not have the power to change national politics, we can make a difference right where we live—by being neighborly. Why not start today?
Happy neighboring!
